Placeres Festival Gallery 12

One of the festivals celebrated in Olutanga Island is the Placeres Festival which is celebrated annually every September 29 -- the Feast of the Archangels on the town of Mabuhay. The patron of the town, St. Michael the Archangel played a significant role in the history of the town. The people believed that St. Michael guarded them against all evils.

Placeres Festival is also a fitting recall for the townfolks to remember the times when Muslims and Christians in this part of the world were quarreling and how the intercession of St. Michael helped them to achieve harmony despite their diversity.

Today, this festival gathers all the town residents -- Muslims, Christians and Subanens to once again stand before the world that peace reigns in this part of the planet.
